SKIN CANCER & MOHS SURGERY
Mohs surgery is a specialized technique for removing various types of skin cancer while sparing as much normal tissue as possible. Mohs surgery differs from other types of skin cancer treatments in that it permits the immediate and complete microscopic examination of the removed cancerous tissue, so that all “roots” and extensions of the cancer can be eliminated. Due to the methodical manner in which tissue is removed and examined, Mohs surgery has been recognized as the skin cancer treatment with the highest reported cure rate.
Dr. Tran is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He teaches Mohs surgery to dermatology residents at UC Irvine. He has completed over 2000 cases of skin cancer surgery utilizing the Mohs technique and is preferred by patients as he is able to effectively do skin cancer surgery while minimizing scarring.
